Petersen counts 132 skillets as of 1951.[PETERSEN 1951]:p.419-421, p.529-530 100 of the finds could be gendered with 47 being male and 53 being female. The skillet pan varies from 14.5 to 30cm in diameter, the normal being between 18 and 23cm. Shafts range from 44 to 96cm, the normal being between 58 and 80cm. There are 3 ways of joining the shaft to the pan:

2 Rhomboid expansion - like R430 (20 examples)
3 Shaft splits in 2 - (12 examples)
The other end of the shaft terminates in either a ring or a loop. One repaired examples was tanged and must have ended in a wooden handle (C.1315)

Petersen counts 6 gridirons as of 1951.[PETERSEN 1951]:p.429-430, p.530. "They consist of a handle which is bent into a spiral at one end in the same plane as the handle. Both handle and spiral are formed of a flat, broad, iron band." The diamter of the spiral is between 12 to 16cm in diamter and the shaft between 16 to 50cm long.
