** Balnakiel** Scar , Orkney. 2 thin laths of wood, either side of the blade and lined with sheepskin or similar. All wrapped in textile. There were no metal fittings associated with the scabbard. Probably from a Petersen type H sword.[OWEN & DALLAND 1999: p.109-112]
