Definition

A conical iron helm constructed from riveted plates. The helm is usually decorated with attached brass plates and often with a plume.

  • 10 helms of this style (type II and type IIa) have been identified by (KIRPICHNIKOV 1971)
Discussion

Similar in construction to the riveted panel conical helm above. Kirpichnikov dates this style of helm from 900 to 1200AD (KIRPICHNIKOV 1971).
