Petersen counts 132 skillets as of 1951.[PETERSEN 1951:p.419-421, p.529-530] 100 of the finds could be gendered with 47 being male and 53 being female. The skillet pan varies from 14.5 to 30cm in diameter, the normal being between 18 and 23cm. Shafts range from 44 to 96cm, the normal being between 58 and 80cm. There are 3 ways of joining the shaft to the pan:
1 - (: 22 examples)
2 Rhomboid expansion - like R430 (Åkre, Lærdal C1757): 20 examples)
3 Shaft splits in 2 - (: 12 examples)
The other end of the shaft terminates in either a ring or a loop. One repaired examples was tanged and must have ended in a wooden handle (C.1315)
